I was working to make smoke and splash effects on the background of my latest oil painting after experimenting initially on paper. (You can read about it the previous post). I would like to share with you a bit more about the beginning process of this painting before explaining how to make these effects. But this is not a tutorial though. Firstly I sketched the image lightly in pencil directly on the gesso applied canvas and I chose the colour theme that are harmonious with the girl's skin tone, hair colour and clothing before mixing paints.
